The #020 campaign I created was to help raise awareness of gang crimes and specifically prevent children from joining gangs. It was aimed to be based around Gang Awareness Week and specifically was to include a talent show event for children all over London. The purpose of this was to unite children from different areas to create a ‘one London’. This is the basis of my campaign tag-line which is ‘020: I represent London, not my postcode’. The message behind this is to help tackle the big issue of postcode wars that kills many children all over London. Instead of them ‘repping their ends’ I want them to feel empowered to rep London as a whole. 020 is the dial code for the whole of London, which is what everyone in London has in common, unlike their postcodes.
This is a key message to spread as it is referring to having a bright secure future in a legitimate way through your talents, which therefore means being on the right path from a younger age. I designed posters to promote the talent show event as well as a social media presence (Instagram account and Snapchat filters), and lastly merchandise to be sold at the event.
